The South African government’s staff establishment consist of sixteen salary levels, or grades. The salaries linked to each of these grades are as follow:
Level 1 is the most primary entry level of employment in the government sector. Persons employed in this salary level do really very elementary tasks; in fact, it is below the level of cleaners and gardeners. There are only 17 employees recorded on this level of appointment in the public sector. The salary attached to this salary level is hundred and twenty-three thousand seven hundred and forty one rand per annum.
