My problem with the current academic model is that there is seemingly very little relationship between effort and result. Academics’ performance is not assessed in terms of their ability to get students (learners) ready for the world of work. I don’t support transformation; not in the manner in which it is applied in South Africa. I am in support for public policies that promote equal opportunities for all South Africans. I do support policies that reduce inequality in society. The poor must be supported. Given the history of apartheid, there was a need to streamline the advancement of non-White South Africans, in 1994, at the time of becoming a democracy.
