The Class of '94

I do believe that, in the minds of the oligarchical class in the country, there is a believe that it is true; that the ANC and everything it stands for are pure and good, and that everyone disagreeing with them, are devilish and incapable of acknowledging the errors of their ways.

There has been a generation, in 1994, that lived the transition of political power in the country from White minority rule to the ANC.

This transition actually happened utterly unexpectantly and, from an historic perspective, very quickly.

There was no drawn-out civil war, where the ANC gradually gaining the upper hand militarily.

In 1989, PW Botha was forced out of his position as President of South Africa. The chief speaker for the rebels, was FW de Klerk. When Botha finally surrendered to the ambitious palace revolutionists, FW de Klerk immediately started playing The Hero, and announced steps he had no approval from his voters to do. This included releasing Nelson Mandela, unbanning the ANC and other freedom fighting groups, and the start of a process of negotiations to iron out a peaceful transition in the country.

Anyway, the point is that the transition happened unexpectantly and rapidly. The individuals in the leadership cadre of the ANC, and other freedom fighters, but specifically the ANC, were thrown into the middle of a process of fundamentalist transition that was so fundamental, and so rapid, that they had no chance of adapting to the new realities.
